Know who you’re hiring

Understand the credentials—not just the badge

Being listed on FixaPros does not mean every credential has been independently checked. Requirements vary by trade, location, and project. Review each profile’s specific status and ask for current records before hiring.

License submitted · not verified

A contractor supplied a number or document. Submission alone does not confirm that the license is active, belongs to the business, or covers your project.

License reviewed by FixaPros

FixaPros has marked the license reviewed in its records. This is not a live licensing-board check or a guarantee of current status. Verify the number, holder, classification, and expiration with the issuing authority.

Background check: passed

The profile has a passed background-check status on record. A pending, missing, or other status is not a passed check. A passed result is not a safety or workmanship guarantee.

Insurance information submitted

A contractor supplied insurance information or documents. This is not independent proof of active coverage. An expired date is flagged when recorded; no date does not mean coverage is current. Ask the insurer to confirm the policy and applicable coverage.

Before you choose a contractor

  1. Check which licenses and permits your trade and local authority require.
  2. Confirm the business name and current license with the issuing state or local board.
  3. Obtain insurance confirmation from the insurer and ask about workers’ compensation where relevant.
  4. Compare written scope, materials, exclusions, references, timeline, and price—not just the lowest bid.
  5. Agree on a written contract, payment schedule, warranties, and who will perform the work.

Profiles, credentials, matching, and clear background checks do not guarantee a response, appointment, quality, or completed job. Estimate matching is separate from a posted-fee appointment request, which remains pending until the contractor accepts. Homeowner-to-contractor payments are arranged directly.
